In Lak’ech means “You are my other me"

More than a name, a philosophy of life

In Lak’ech is a phrase from Mayan wisdom that means “You are my other me.” It reminds us that we are interconnected, and that individual healing, is community healing too. Therefore, we heal in relationship, not isolation.

At In Lak’ech Counseling, this philosophy becomes a commitment to creating a healing space that honors your identity, your culture, and your personal story. We believe that true healing happens when the fullness of who you are is recognized: your roots, your lived experiences, your courage, and your possibilities.

The right to heal

You deserve healing that honors who you are, not who the world told you to be

Culturally Responsive

You’ll work with clinicians who share your values, understand your culture, and walk with you in shaping the space you need to heal.

Strength Focused

Healing that recognizes both the wounds we’ve survived and the strength that has carried us — individually and collectively.

Dr. Bryan O. Rojas-Araúz

Hello! I’m Dr. Bryan O. Rojas-Araúz, a licensed, bilingual, and bicultural psychologist. I am an Afro-Indigenous immigrant with Costa Rican and Panamanian roots, raised in the Bay Area, California, where I first found my passion for community organizing and social justice.

As a scholar-activist, healer, educator, and co-founder of In Lak’ech Counseling, Education & Consulting, I bring together psychology, ancestral healing, indigenized frameworks, and social justice. I specialize in supporting global majority communities (BIPOC), immigrants, men, first-generation professionals, couples, and families through a culturally responsive approach.

Today, I balance clinical practice with teaching, research, and conducting mental health evaluations for migrants and asylum seekers. My purpose is simple: to create healing spaces where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.
